Short report
De kinderpsychiatrische aspecten van een geval van Contusio Cerebri met Posttraumatische Afasie
P. CHR. Mussert
The case-history of a 10-year old girl after a traffic-accident, which resulted in a serious cerebral concussion, is discussed in this paper. Loss of consiousness lasted eighteen days, after which no neurological aberrations were found, except total aphasia.
Because of this aphasia and the disorder of behaviour, consisting of negativism, a loss of decorum, dementia and disorder of concentration, she was given childpsychiatric treatment.
Departing from this case some general aspects are brought forward, which indicate that the seriousness of the symptoms in the acute phase, the ptemorbid personality- structure and the environmental circumstances are the most important criteria for evaluating the prognosis.
