On account of two patients the importance of conscientious assessment of the sexual offense and the psychiatric diagnostic interview of the sexual offender is pointed out. This assessment can be done by keeping one's mind on the offense on one hand, and by using Finkelhor's four-factor model on the other. The impediments of a good assessment are emotional most of the times. Especially one's own defenses to sexual violence are involved.
