The Geriatric Mental State Schedule (GMS); reliability of the Dutch version
C. Hooijer, G.C. van der Veer, W. de Rijke, W. van Tilburg
The GMS, a standardized interview for the elderly, was translated in Dutch. Motives for conducting the present investigation were translation itself, the application in The Netherlands and some gaps in the results of former investigations. A reliability study was performed. In this study, the GMS appeared to be well applicable and relevant. The Dutch version did show the same characteristics of reliability as its English counterpart. Differences between the results of former investigations were satisfactory solved. A first investigation of reliability of GMS factorscores was performed. Nine factors appeared to be sufficiently reliable. Generalizibility of these results is tested and discussed.
