The leader's suffering
J.C.B. Eykman
Summary: The leader's suffering
On the basis of a case history, three hypotheses are being formulated:
1. leadership is not everybody's job;
2. not only has the leader to be be able to cope with loneliness, but also he has to take a certain amount of pleasure in solitude;
3. the management of a psychotherapeutic centre is a moreheadedjob.
Some reflections are devoted to these hypotheses, referring a. o. to Winnicott's ideas on the 'capacity to be alone'. Moreover it is tried to describe leadership bymeans of the psychotherapeutic paradigm. The hypotheses are confirmed.
