Fenomenologische overdenkingen bij het verschijnsel week
The weekend is a most important unity of time in the industrialized communities of the Western hemisphere. Days are counted as days before of after the weekend. Emotional moods are determined by succeeding or failing weekends and the prospect of the next coming holidays. Individuals feel themselves more free during the weekend than during the days of the week but after further analysis, it appears a fact that during the very weekend the individual is highly involved in collective structures of behaviour mood en being consciousness. Most people are at saturdays and sundays wrapped up in one of these four categories of behaviour: going to/receiving family and friends; doing hobbies and odd jobs; going out, church, events; informatica (radio, TV, periodics). Important differences of behaviour and conflicts of interest exist between psychiatric patients and the personnel during the weekend. Being free at saterdays and sundays means for the patients a confrontation with their very pathology, while in the meantime the personnel is preparing for the lustfull community event of the weekend. Of course, some differences exist between people living alone and people living together with their partners. People, living alone are threatened by the massality of their pathology and they have little healthy activities or contacts to compensate for that. People living together are burdened by the role expectancies of their homemates, being obligated to act normally and to be a fellow-homemate, with relatively little problems. A weekend training is designed in purpose to help psychiatric patients to make the most of their time. The training is done in group and is based on the behaviour categories mentioned above.
