De plaats van de biologische psychiatrie temidden van de andere neuro-psychiatrische disciplines in Nederland
The author discusses the evolution and the present state of neuropsychiatry in the Netherlands. Although psychiatry has reached a high standard research facilities have been relatively lacking for systematic psychobiological research. This was considered due to a lack in facilities for research training including training methodology. Another difficulty for the psychiatrist is the predominance of training in applying methods as such derived from other disciplines.
The rising interest in biological psychiatry in the Netherlands is seen partly as a reaction after lopsided philosophical orientations and attitudes in the field of psychiatry, partly as a natura! consequente of the development of psychiatry as a science.
The author discusses winch structuren of organization, teams, institutes or societies, can contribute best to the development of psychobiological research as a whole.
