Biochemische veranderingenin het centrale zenuwstelsel bij de ziekte van Alzeheimer
P.A. Roukema
Amyloid is found in the centra! nucleus of the senile plaques and in the wall of the versels (congophilic angiopathy).
Electron microscopic studies have demonstrated corresponding fibrillary structures as found in amyloidosis.
However, on a chemical basis there is as yet no conclusive proof that the deposits are identical.
In order to get more information about the chemical changes in Alzheimer's disease in relation to amyloidosis the neutral mucoproteins of cerebrospinal (luid, serum and braM as well as the gangliosides of the latter were studied. Only in the brain significant changes were found.
The results obtained are discussed in relation to those found in the lietrature.
