Het syndroom van Gilles de la Tourette
The syndrome of Gilles de la Tourette is a rare disorder. This paper offers a review. The authors used Shapiro's classification of tic disorders and his nomenclature for tic syndrome. Four times they diagnosed GTS. The patients were treated with haloperidol. Each of this patients had shown a serious personality disorder: various congenital disorders and psychopathic behaviour; obsessive-compulsive symptomatology and unadjusted behaviour with an underlying parental neglect; obsessive-compusive and hysterie traits; hysterie symptomatology. The authors wondered if Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome may start in a healthy child. They believe in the onset in youth, the characteristic course, the chronic character of the disease and the therapeutic success of haloperidol. They suppose necessary a serious, non-GTS psychopathology and believe in a mainly organic etiology.
