Case report
Flumazenil possibly efficacious in patients in a coma caused by clozapine in combination with benzodiazepines
J.J. Peetoom, P.F.J. Schulte
summary Two elderly patients and a patient with a hereditary degenerative neurological disease went into a coma after ingesting a first dose of 100 mg clozapine either due to medication errors or during the titration phase of clozapine. All patients had used benzodiazepines prior to intoxication with clozapine and were treated with 0,5 mg flumazenil. Two of the 3 came out of their coma quickly after an intravenous injection of flumazenil. Flumazenil may be effective in some cases of comatose intoxication with clozapine.
