Case report
Bipolar disorder: ultra-rapid and ultradian cycling
B. Bourdeau, G. Pieters
summary Following a clinical case the authors summarize and critically appraise the literature on ultrarapid and ultradian cycling bipolar disorder. These subtypings of the rapid cycling bipolar disorder are insufficiently supported by evidence, neither from a diagnostic nor from a therapeutic point of view. For the time being, ultra-rapid cycling and ultradian cycling can only be considered as descriptive terms and not as valid nosological entities.
