Gender differences and psychopathology in children and adolescents
E.F. van den Ban, J.K. Buitelaar
summary This article is a review on two selected child and adolescent psychiatric diseases: ADHD(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and autism. Possible gender differences in epidemiology, comorbidity, genetic background, prognosis and treatment are focused on. Evidently, gender differences exist to an extent and in a way that is syndrome dependent. More and systematic research into gender differences and psychopathology in children and adolescents is warranted.
