Cognitive symptoms made it almost impossible for her to stop the alprazolam medication or to continue her psychotherapeutic treatment. The medication was stopped by means of a behavioural experiment in which both patient and therapist were unaware of the way the medication was reduced, after which continuation of treatment became possible.
