Recognition of emotions and cross-modality in schizophrenia

summary This article presents scientific backgrounds, aims and relevance of the current scientific work of the authors to recognition of emotions and crossmodality in schizophrenia. After a brief presentation of the importance of cognitive dysfunctioning in schizophrenia, the paper reviews studies on recognition of emotions in the face and the voice and the integration of these two sources of information. A review of the already published scientific research on crossmodal emotion perception strengthens the hypothesis, that, in schizophrenics, integration and crossmodality are dysfunctional.
