Antipsychotic drugs, qt-prolongation and the risk of cardiac arrhythmias: implications for clinical practice
J.B. Zoeteman, P.D. Meesters, A.A.M. Wilde
Antipsychotic drug induced qt-prolongation on the ecg and the related risk of cardiac arrhythmias have received renewed interest. Research shows that a number of antipsychotic drugs may cause qt-prolongation. For patients on high dosages of antipsychotic drugs, or with other risk factors for qt-prolongation, it is recommended to make an ecg before starting medication and to repeat this after drug adjustment.
