Two patients are presented whose complaints were, by themselves or referrers, described as obsessive compulsive disorders. On closer examination, these symptoms could be better described as impulsions which had consider-able consequences for diagnosis and treatment: both patients were suffering from Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome. Using a fenomenological approach, differences and similarities between tics, impulsions and compulsions are discussed.
