Short report
Administrative psychiatry or: Trained to be the 'playing captain'
M.A.W. Rinne-Albers
Knowledge and skills concerning management should be an integrated part of the psychiatrist's education because they form an integrated part of the psychiatrist's work today and in the new century. For the psychiatrist management problems and activities occur on several different levels and they are intrinsic to the psychiatric profession. The importance of administrative psychiatry for the psychiatrist is stressed many times in the 'Profielschets Psychiater' (Dutch Psychiatric Association 1996). The necessary integration of administrative psychiatry in the psychiatric residency training has not yet been realised.
