Short report
Kleptomania
B. Groot, E.J. Colon
Kleptomania is a poorly understood phenomenon, in spite of postulation of many psychodynamic theories to explain the motivation for this behaviour. A high comorbidity with other psychiatric disorders has been established, especially with mood disorders. The authors bring up for discussion whether kleptomania is a separable nosological entity. Antidepressants and cognitive-behavior therapy seem the best therapeutic options.
