Using a structured interview sexual behaviour and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among a group patients suffering from schizophrenia who are treated in a community mental health care centre in The Hague was determined. A substantial portion from this group proved to be sexually active. Knowledge about HIV/AIDS is frequently inadequate. More education about sexuality and HIV/AIDS is desired.
