In the rehabilitation process for patients with schizophrenia various treatments, trainings and care-facilities can be applied and used. In this article the state of the art with regard to rehabilitation-practice in schizophrenia is summarized in a multi-level model. The 'pitfall-model' distinguishes six levels: 'contact', 'psychological overview', 'cognitive self control', 'practical goals', 'survival skills' and 'role functioning'. For each level specific interventions are described. With this model the process of reintegration can be planned and executed step by step in a way that also prevents caregivers to fall in professional pitfalls.
