Out-patient psychotherapy for schizophrenic patients
A. Kaasenbrood, A.E.J.G. Wiersma
Seventy percent of the patients suffering from schizophrenia are seriously socially disabled. The majority of this group is permanently in need of psychiatric care. It is obvious that confining treatment to positive symptoms of the disease leads to neglecting the daily problems the patient has to cope with. In this article the importance of psychotherapy in addressing these daily problems is stressed and illustrated by four case vignets.
