A bio-psychosocial model for diagnosis and management
W.M.N.J. Buis
A bio-psychosocial model is described: the `DAC-model'. It presents the diagnostic considerations and management in psychiatric practice in a systematic way. This model was originally developed to give psychiatric advice to general practitioners. It includes the clinical syndrome and the (premorbid) personality as well as hypotheses from the different perspectives: biological/somatic, psychodynamic/psychological and system/context. Therapeutic possibilities are also described systematically from these different viewpoints.
