Psychological impairments in patients of an outpatient depot clinic
N.J.A. van der Wee, H.W. Hoek
A population of chronic schizophrenic patients on depot neuroleptics, in care at the outpatient depot clinic of the Academic Hospital Utrecht, was compared with earlier studied populations of chronic schizophrenic patients in various inpatient and residential settings. Apart from demographical parameters psychological impairments were studied. The population of outpatients did not seem to differ demographically from the patients in other settings. Outpatients showed just like inpatients consider- able psychological impairments. Only the psychological function attention was less disturbed in the outpatient group and may play an important role in the choice of setting for chronic schizophrenic patients.
