Dissociative disorders and family therapy
D.A.J. de Wachter, A. Lange
In spite of the large amount of publications on dissociative disorders and family ther- apy, a review of the literature shows that little has been written on the combination of these fields. The article tries to explain this omission and provides arguments in favor of a family-oriented approach. Furthermore, some therapeutic interventions within a family-educational and a systemic family therapy model are discussed. It is concluded that a family-oriented approach may offer a relevant contribution in the controversial discussion on the treatment of dissociative disorders.
