Confusing oscillations of attachment of borderline personality disorder: a system approach
H.P. America, W. Teer
The confusing oscillations of attachment of borderline personality disorder are described. This behaviour is proposed to render impotence that may undermine the therapeutic relationship. The authors present a system approach of this interactional problem in which psycho-educational, supportive and directive techniques are supplementory. The main issue in this approach is the regulation of the psychological distance between the parties involved: the family, the person with the borderline personality disorder and the therapist. In this context the treatment of both borderline traits and behaviours as well as Axis-I disorders of frequent occurrence are established.
