The Senegalese healing ritual the Ndöp, is described and analysed from an anthropological, a psychoanalytic, and an interactional perspective. The author indicates some therapeutic elements occurring both in the Ndöp and in modern psychotherapy. The conclusion is that both Northern and Southern Atlantic cultures can use some elements of the rituals in their therapy.
