Short report
Clinical psychiatry in the iron grip
J. Pols
There is a growing ambiguity in the task of the Psychiatrie Centre. On the one side there is the task of giving optimal treatment-possibilities to psychiatric patients; on the other side there is the task of giving an asylum to people who temporarily or permanently can't stay in society. A number of arguments is given to demonstrate the thesis that treating patients and asyling them presuppose a totally different attitude both in staff, in patients and in the community.
