F. de Jonghe and 0. Markx: Misidentification
Misidentification is defined as the fautly identification of another person.
A distinction is made between non-pathological misidentifications and normal identification. The pathological misidentifications are distinguished as based on misperception or on misconception. Both of them exhibit a positive and a negative form. The relationship between the different forms of (mis)identification is explained by means of the procesces leading to recognition, non recognition or false recognition of strangers and familiar persons.
