The psychotherapeutic attitude in clinical psychiatry. 'Staffpersonality' as a model of the multidisciplinary team
S. Scheffer, J.F. Tonino
The psychoanalytic personality model is presented as a model of the multidisciplinary psychiatric team. There is a striking analogy between the personality of the individual and that of the treatment team. Ego, superego and id characteristics can be recognized. It is the staff psychiatrist who has the particular task to perform the superego-function of the staffpersonality. Although for most of the clinical psychiatrie patients psychotherapy is not indicated, the importance of the psychotherapeutic attitude of the staffpersonality is pointed out.
