Short report
The heautoscopic hallucination
R. Th Schoenmaker
The case of a 77-year-old women with continual heautoscopic hallucinations 2 weeks after a cataract extraction was reported. After this operation occurred also a considerable loss of vision with a central scotoma because of a bilateral disciform degeneration of the macula. The related literature was reviewed. The occurrence of heautoscopic hallucinations in individuals suffering from purely ocular disorders was til] now not described.
It is emphasized that the disturbance of the eye and especially the central scotoma induced the heautoscopic hallucination.
