Experience with sex-therapy: the 'natural sexual response' as an illusion
W. Everaerd
Several methods for treatment of heterosexual dysfunction were investigated at the State University of Utrecht. A general evaluation is formulated in this paper.
Therapy for sexual dysfunction seems to be succesfull. Females in comparison with males show more improvement.
Some critical remarks on theoretical conceptions about sexual behaviour and sexual experience are presented. Succes with females is largely attributed to cultural ideas about sexual behaviour. Sex-therapy as practised today mainly improves subjective suffering. Sex-therapies, as stated in this paper, further sexist goals and bring little emancipation.
