Karl Jaspers was a physician who got a complete education as a psychiatrist by Emil Kraepelin. Even as assistent he published about schizophrenia and about phenomenology in psychiatry. In 1913, when he was 28, he published the 'Allgemeine Psychopathologie' which up til] now is in use as a standardwork.
Jaspers never was a practising psychiatrist. He turned to philosophy and even so he never got a philosophic education he soon got an appointment as lecturer at the university. His philosophic work, known all over the world encompasses psychiatrie possibilities.
