After a short survey of basic-philosophies about the psychiatric centers, attention is given to the following aspects with regard to the future: clinical function, responsibility, specialisation and differentiation, internal structure and organisation, number of beds, treatment-facilities, personnel, team-work, building aspects, technical evolution and financial, economic and scientific aspects. A plea for anticipation of possible tendencies is held.
