Short report
De ontwikkeling van de psychotherapie in de instituten voor psychotherapie
A.A. Fischer
In this paper a short survey is given of the development of the Institutes for
Psychotherapy in the Netherlands; the past development, the present and the
future. Problems described are the increasing social need for psychotherapy and
the corresponding growing need for more psychotherapists (in manpower and the
diversity of skills), and the financial organisation (grants, the patients fee). These
problems are illustrated by numbers.
Also described are aspects of training in a growing diversity of skills, present
and future, problems in research, the need for better indications and information.
k can be expected that the instituten for psychotherapy will play an increasing
role in the network of mental health facilities because psychotherapeutic methods
are more and more including techniques like group- and familytherapy, short
term psychotherapy and crisis intervention. The psychotherapist is coming out of
his consultingroom. The multidisciplinary structure of an institute proven to be
an optimal condition for the development of new techniques in close relation to
increasing and changing needs in the community.
