V.W.D. Schenk
A review of the literature about the syndrome of Korsakow, the post-traumatic amnesia's and the memory defects in bilateral lesions of the hippocampus is given, followed by the clinical and pathological data of a woman attained by bilateral vascular lesions of the hippocampus.
The woman, 70 years old, suffered from a severe amnestic memory defect and was only slightly demented. She lived still for 8 years. Immediate memory was good, but memory for recent events and the earlier past was very badly impaired.
The atrophy of one fornix was complete, of the other partial.
