Tijd en arbeidstherapie
An attempt is made in this study to prove that to some schizophrenics the events in the outerworld are disengaged from time. The instinctave ability to make 'la durée' to 'spatial time' (Bergson) has been lost, and consequently these schizophrenics no longer participate in 'social time'. In the sense of simultaneity the relation between event and mental process has gone. This is connected with disorders in the experience of being an identity. The 'internal doek', i.e. the biologica) and physiological rhythmic processes in connection with the consciousness of time, fails to synchronize with the physical time. The author investigated the inf luence of timed occupational therapy, under guidance of a skilled occupational therapist, on the restoration of 'social time' by means of reconditioning the 'internal clock'.
