explanation Electroconvulsive therapy (ect) is the most effective treatment in severe mood disorders. In recent years a growing number of patients has been treated with ect in the Netherlands and Belgium. Accompanying this trend, there is a growing interest in technical, clinical and neurobiological factors that may influence treatment outcome and safety of ect. Recent research will be presented with regard to these parameters in this symposium.
aim To be informed about the latest research on ect and factors influencing effectiveness and safety.
