Spontaneous convulsion 'therapy' in a casae of puerperal psychosis - a case study

Summary
A patient with a severe puerperal psychosis improved dramatically after she had a seiz-ure, probably as a side effect of her medication. This case illustrates the effectiveness of (electro)convulsive therapy (ECT) as a short term treatment for postnatal psycho-ses. In the Netherlands, ECT is not an accepted treatment for this illness. According to the authors, the official guidelines for ECT should include postnatal psychosis as one of the indications for this treatment
