Anxiety isn't a bad counsellor. How to change the negative motivation to start a therapy
J. Vereycken
Relief workers have no adequate answer for the problem of the negative initial motivation of a alcohol addict to start a therapy. The customary persuasion talks usually set the inflexibility of the alcohol addict. The author makes use of recent findings in cognitive social psychology to develop an instrument of influence that bends the defensive attitude of the patient into a cooperative one. This positive change can be reached by showing the patients a movie which meets certain well-defined content-criteria.
