Psychiatric psychotherapy
C.F.A. Milders
Psychiatric psychotherapy is the methodical elaboration of the psychological dimension of the biopsychosocial model for the purpose of the psychiatric diagnostic process and treatment. A basic principle of this concept is the patient conceived as a person in relation to his/her psychopathology (vulnerability) and the environment. On this basis the psychiatrist-patient relation can be handled methodically. Psychiatric psychother-apy is always part of a total treatment plan. Monomethodical forms of psychotherapy can be integrated in this plan. The concept of psychiatric psychotherapy can help to develop psychological and psychotherapeutical dimensions of every psychiatric activity.
