Case report
A psychotic relapse, provoked by aripiprazole. A case study
Y. de Kok
A case is described of a man suffering from schizophrenia, who was doing well on risperidone but who became acutely psychotic when risperidone was replaced by aripiprazole. The probable explanation is that risperidone created a hypodopaminergic state with increased sensitivity of the dopamine receptors and as a result aripiprazole may have acted primarily as a dopamine agonist.
