Prevention of relapse in depression: Fava's well-being therapy

Long-term medication is regarded as the standard procedure for preventing relapse and recurrence in depression. If pharmacological treatment has proved successful, then some additional benefit can be provided by psychotherapy that is aimed at alleviating residual symptoms and increasing a feeling of well-being. In this article we describe well-being therapy as developed by Fava as part of sequential treatment. The results are promising, but further investigation is needed.
