This paper describes a study of psychiatrists and psychiatric residents concerning their reaction to the suicide of a patient. Psychiatric residents in Holland experience relatively many suicides of patients and this risk has been rising the last years. Dutch psychiatrists are more at risk to experience the suicide of one of their patients than their American colleages and they report a lesser impact.
