An out-patient service for chronic patients on depot and lithium prophylaxis
This article provides information about the development of differentiated programs for chronic psychiatric patients by a Riagg, the Dutch version of an out-patient clinic. In this context the foundation of a depot and lithium policlinic is described.
Indicated is how for the sake of a client-oriented supply a division in six subprograms has been effected. In the discussion of the programs a relation is made with the concept casemanagement. In addition the development of the institutional policy is mentioned, which has resulted in the foundation of a depot and lithium policlinic. Finally information is given about the working method and the caseload of the policlinic. The conclusion is that it is advisable for a Riagg to found a depot and lithium policlinic in the context of a broad and differentiated supply to chronic psychiatric patients.
