Aspects of internal medicine in psychotic patients can be reviewed according following items: 
a) Internal diseases resulting in psychosis (symptomatic psychosis).
b) Internal complications as a result of intensive and long-term treatment with psychopharmacological agents.
c) Clinical aspects of internal diseases in psychotic patients.
d) Epidemiology of internal diseases in psychiatrie institutions.
A survey of items c and d is given based on literature and own experience with emphasis on the problem of the non-complaint and the syndrome of functional megacolon in psychotic patients.
